NAME AND PURPOSES

The name and title shall be Medical Society of the State of New York.

MISSION STATEMENT

To advance the health of the residents of our State by promoting a favorable environment for medicine through advocacy, education and professional community for New York State physicians.

To improve the health and well-being of our community through promoting wellness, fostering collaborative relationships, providing personal and professional development of physicians and engaging in healthcare advocacy.

VISION STATEMENT

“The Medical Society of the State of New York shall be the leading professional organization uniting all physicians to promote excellent healthcare of the people of New York State.”

PURPOSE

The purpose of the Medical Society of the State of New York shall be:

To federate into one organization the medical profession of the State of New York;

To contribute to the professional and personal development of member physicians by representing the profession as a whole and advocating health-related rights, responsibilities and issues. These actions are designed to promote a favorable environment for medicine and improvement of the health of the residents of New York State;

To serve as a resource for its members and assist them in addressing the many issues and needs which they face in providing health care to their patients;
******
To enhance the delivery of medical care of high quality to all people in the most economical manner, and to act to promote and maintain high standards in medical education and in medicine in an effort to ensure that quality medical care is available to the public;

To seek to educate the public regarding important health care issues, including identification and discussion of their implications for patients and physicians in the current medical practice environment;

To seek to attain these goals by acting, to the fullest extent possible, in concert with organizations and agencies which have similar aims;

To inform and promote public opinion in regard to the problems of medicine and health for the best interests of the people of the State of New York.
